21 Day Fix (Pre-Wedding Slim Down)

Where was this when I was getting married last year?!?! I did Insanity and Turbofire to help me lose weight before my June wedding but this new program is designed to help you lose weight and get results in just 21 days. Yes, please!!

If you're looking to lose up to 15 pounds in 21 days with the easy-to-follow portion control nutrition plan and 30-minute workouts which will take the guesswork out of losing weight then check out The 21-Day Fix from Beachbody (The creators of Insanity, P90X, T25, Turbofire, Hip Hop Abs and many more).

The 21 Day Fix kit comes with 7 workouts (a few extras if you get the Ultimate Kit) and an additional 10 Minute Abs Fix. At most, you'll need 2 sets of dumbbells (1 lighter, 1 heavier) or resistance band, and some water. All workouts are 30 minutes and most of the moves are 1 minute long -- you're getting a serious burn at the end of that minute.

This nutrient rich approach to simple eating features roughly 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat, a balance not only great for weight loss, but for giving you the energy you need to get the most out of your workouts. You'll use your colored containers that correspond with "approved foods" and you'll know exactly what, when, and how much to eat. NO FOODS ARE OFF LIMITS! Yes, chocolate IS one of the approved foods on the 21 Day Fix eating plan.

It's simple fitness! Any questions please let me know! Plus, it's on sale for the month of February! You'll get the entire workout program, nutrition guide, 7 containers designated for particular food groups. Red = lean proteins, for example, and a 30 day of Shakeology for a low price.

Work Out Wednesday

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted a Work Out Wednesday. Since my last weight loss update a few things have changed, so let me catch you up to speed.

I finished up a round p90x, well, I actually stopped about about two weeks shy of completing it. Unfortunately, I let the holiday's get the best of me and kind of stopped working out. I did continue drinking my Shakeology shakes daily, didn't over indulge and I would occasionally go for walks but that was about it. And I'm happy to report that I didn't gain any weight. But I didn't lose any either.

I did like the p90x program and it was working too but I got bored with it. I need to slim down and there wasn't enough cardio in the program for me. Would I recommend the program to anyone sure, but I've decided to switch things up and try a round a Insanity.

I started Insanity this past Monday the 14th and all I gotta say is that it's called Insanity for a reason. The fitness program is no joke and I feel like I'm gonna either pass out of throw up while I'm doing it but I'm not giving up. I completed day 3 today and other than the soreness so far so good. I'm up at 6:30 everyday getting my workout in and I follow it up with the most healthiest meal of the day Shakeology. The rest of my day of my day is spent eating healthy and trying to resist bad habits when it comes to food. I'm a believer in you can have anything in moderation but I know that I will get much better results if I'm more strict with what I put in body body.

Even though I haven't finished Insanity yet, I'm a believer. So much so that I signed on to be a Beachbody coach! I'm committed to being a product of the product. This is the kind of program that if you, finish you are almost guaranteed great results. In addition to the workouts through the beachbody program Shakeology is amazing. I noticed a huge difference when I tried some samples and that's why I chose to order it. I truly believe that even though I wasn't working out for the past month the fact that I was still drinking my Shakeology daily is the reason I didn't gain any weight.

Today's Lunch. First time trying this out and it
was good, however, I didn't care for the red onions
or the broccoli.

If you have any questions about any of the programs that I mentioned above, please let me know. I'd love to help you out with YOUR weight loss journey.

Work it Wednesday

A day late...

So, it's been a minute since I've posted anything about my weight loss journey and that's because I haven't been very consistent.

I did manage to weigh myself but the scale wasn't very reliable. At mom's house her scale said one thing and later that night at a friend's house it had a number that was 5lbs lighter. But either way the number was way too high. Like I mentioned before, I weigh more now than ever before and that's just not cool. Don't get me wrong I love that people are in different shapes and sizes, but personally I prefer to be at a healthier weight. Plus, I have a closet full of clothes that I can't fit into and I can't afford to go buy a new wardrobe.

I was doing really well leading up to my birthday which was on Sept. 16th since I was going to go try on wedding dresses that day. Every morning I did my 2 mile walk/jog before I took the kid to school and when I returned I was consistent with the Nike Training Club app on my phone. Then, Kawon suggested that we celebrate my birthday all week and that's just what we did! The week after my birthday consisted of hanging out with friends, eating out, beer at Oktoberfest and late nights and I didn't work out one bit. The week after that I only managed to get up one morning and workout and that was it. SMH

At that point, I could see a noticeable difference in how I looked from the weeks before. I wasn't as toned. There wasn't anything stopping me from working out except that I was being just plain ol' lazy. And that same ol' thought of I'll just be fat and happy crossed my mind, while chowing down on a whopper from Burger King.

After lounging around last Sunday and indulging on several 32 ounce soda's that day, it just hit me. I gotta make a change now before I get too comfortable and start gaining weight. I don't want to be that bride where I'm starving the week before because I need to fit into my wedding dress. I want to be in shape and at my goal weight by March so that I don't have that added pressure of losing weight up until the wedding. I just want to have to maintain my weight at that point.

I kept wondering why I wasn't as motivation to lose weight like I was a few years back. Honestly, to lose weight all you need is will-power. You don't need a gym membership or a pricey weight-loss program. I have weights at home, a treadmill in my dining room that I haven't used in over a year (SMH again! A damn shame, I know), 2 copies of p90x in my tv console and free apps on my phone along with plenty of knowledge of what I needed to do. And I still lacked the motivation. Really, I had no excuses.

I woke up on Monday, October 1st with a new a mission. I decided that everyday at 4pm I would do a p90x work out. It's a 90 day program so that means by January 1st, I don't have to make a new years resolution to lose weight because I already did. With the weather finally cooling off here in Dallas there's no excuse to continue my morning walks either.

To take accountability for myself, I got plugged into the Beachbody community from a friend on Facebook, and I'm so excited for my journey. Literally, within minutes of creating a profile I had other members that I don't even know sending me private message with encouraging words and just reaching out to introduce themselves.

Look at these photos!! It wasn't an accident, I put these horrible photos of myself up because it's all about accountability (plus, nobody besides my cousin reads this blog anyways, lol). I know I look like a hot mess in these photos, but just stick around for the after! I'm excited and best of all I'm motivated!

Work it Wednesday

I'd be lying if I said that I love working out.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind exercising from time to time but there are so many other things that I'd rather be doing like eating and not gaining weight :) . I'm not one of the lucky few who don't have to worry about what they eat or if they exercise so in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and not look like a marshmallow in my wedding dress next year, I have no choice to get my fitness on. Like.every.single.day!!

Two years ago I decided that I didn't want be fat anymore. There were so many things in my life at the time that i had no control over but realized weight loss was the one thing were it wouldn't ever happen if I didn't make it happen. And so I did. I lost about 35-40lbs in about a 8 month time period and I was pretty proud of myself. I was down to one of the lowest weights that I had been since I was a teenager and I felt good about myself.

And then life changed.

I started dating the boyfriend (now fiance) and we would dine-out a lot. Then I also got on birth control, the same kind that I had been using for years and started gaining weight. I never suffered weight gain as a side effect but once I realized that was the reason I was gaining weight even though I was still working out I was stuck. The Depo shoot last for 3 months, plus it takes about 3 months from the hormones to completely leave your body so no matter what kind of exercising I would do, my weight continued to rise.

So I decided to just be fat & happy. Which was fine during the winter and then spring time came around and I hated the way that I looked. I hadn't already cancelled my gym membership since I hadn't been in months so I had limited options for working out. Including no motivation.

In March of this year, Mister & I decided to buy P90X and do it together. we did great for the first few weeks then when rest week came around we never quite got back on track. Being that I started working from home around that time I would go for walks in the afternoon around the neighborhood, but that wasn't doing much. In May I signed up for a 4 week boot-camp with my cousin and that went well, until it was over. I fell off the wagon yet again.

Then the boyfriend proposes on July 3rd and now I have more motivation than I can handle. I'm super pumped to workout everyday and have even done some two-a-days. I prefer cardio workouts and enjoyed taking spin, kick boxing and aerobic step classes at the gym but I need to stay on budget with wedding cost, so a gym membership is out.

For the past week, I've been getting up early and walking/jogging/running. despite my dislike for running, I don't mind walking but it just gets so boring sometimes. I walk around my neighborhood listening to music on my iPhone and see the same old thing everyday. But it's working though, so I can't complain. To add to my walking I've started working out in the pool here in my housing community and I LOVE IT!! I'm so mad at myself for not starting sooner, and just like my morning jogs, it's working!!

To hear myself say that 2 years ago I was 50lbs lighter than I am today and that I weigh more now that I EVER have, just blows my mind. But still, that wasn't much of a motivator to keep me off my lazy butt off the couch. But things have changed; now that I have a wedding dress to fit it, I'm so determined it's not even funny. I say that I want to lose at least 30lbs, but I honestly don't even know how much I weigh today. I have a love/hate relationship with the scale and haven't been on one in at least 6 months.

**Note to Self** - Weight myself before the end of the week.

Here's a summary of my morning walkouts as well as some tunes that I jam to when I'm workin' it.
