Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

I wanted something different and after searching the internet I finally found some "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" card via Etsy. I know I could have just called, texted or invited them to lunch to ask my girls if they would be part of my bridal party, but instead I wanted to do something a little special.

I needed  to find something that fit my personality, and discovered cards made by Anthologie Press and fell in love with them.

They say, "As I prepare for the day I'm to be a bride, it would mean the world to me to have you sipping by my side Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" I had one for my Matron of Honor, Maid of Honor & Bridesmaid.

The cards are meant to be wine glass stem wraps, but since two of my three girls live out-of-town I needed to think of a different way to make them work for me. So, instead of wrapping them around a glass, I chose to gift my girls with a mini bottle of champagne and just add the card with the package.

And they were a hit! My girls all loved them and they all said YES!!

What other ideas have you heard of to ask your ‘maids?

They Made It!!

After emailing Vistaprint, I received an email letting me know how sincerely sorry they were for the issue and that they would expedite a replacement order free of charge!!!

Our save-the-date's arrived today safe & sound!! And I couldn't be more happy with them! We started handed them out to those we saw today and the rest will be mailed out on Monday. Once I have shared them with our guest, I'll make sure to upload a photo so you can all see them.

Toodles!

Save the Date's Fail

I ordered my Save the Date's from vistaprint last Sunday but failed to use the coupon code that I had for 25% off. So I emailed them to let them know and by the time I woke up on Monday morning and checked my email, I had received a credit for the discount. Actually, I received a discount for more than the 25% and that made my day!

I had also paid to have my ordered shipped priority because I wanted to get them addressed and send out by the end of this week. They were due to arrive on Monday, August 20th, so when I received an email last Wed letting me know my order had been shipped I got a little excited that I could finally get the ball rolling.

Yesterday, my fiancé checked went to check the mail only to find a box sitting next to the front door. Yay!!!! Except yesterday it poured pretty much all afternoon. Knowing that the box didn't fit in our mailbox, why would the postman just leave it at the door and not knock to see if anyone was home instead of leaving it in the rain?? I wouldn't be mad if they had to re-deliver the next business day, but even if it wasn't ranting at that very moment, knowing that it had been raining for pretty much the last 24 hours and there was a 60% chance for the day, why leave it just sitting there?!?

The box was ruined so, I knew the contents in side were also and when we peeled open the box this is what we saw..

"Don't cry", he told me and before a tear could fall from my eye he said, "we'll get some new ones ordered and they'll be here before Friday". Not knowing if that could really happen, I believed him. At least I want to.

I'm sending an email to vistaprint to explain the situation and hope that they can get this taken care of ASAP for me.

Stay tuned to see how this plays out!

Progression

This past week I finally found our Save the Date's!!!! I knew what I wanted and when I saw them I literally squealed out loud! I was so excited to finally find something that I loved after weeks of searching.

I searched the pages of Etsy and found what I wanted on page 3 but continued to look all the way up to page 25 before I made my purchase. I just wanted to be absolutely sure that I didn't miss anything else that I might have wanted more before I clicked 'buy'. After going back and forth with the seller a few days, on Thursday I received the file of our Save the Date's and I'll have them printed on my own.

I also purchased Will You be My Bridesmaid cards from Etsy to send out to my girls this week. Woohoo!! They all better say yes too! I'll share pictures of both cards once our guest receive their save the dates and my girls get their cards. But other than that, I'm happy to report that things are moving along smoothly.

Just gotta get working on our wedding website since the link is included on the Save the Date's.

It's Official: We Picked a Wedding Date

After going back & forth for a few weeks with several travel agencies, changing the date from the 1st of June and several emails with the resort, we've put down our deposits for our hotel & flights and our wedding date has been confirmed!

Kawon & I will be getting married on Friday, June 7, 2013 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic at the Excellence Punta Cana, which happened to be our first choice!! Woo hoo! We feel that the Dominican Republic is the perfect place for us to start our new life together, and I am really excited for all our guests to experience it with us at a beautiful tropical location. There's really no significance of the date, we just knew that we wanted something in early summer and kinda just went with the resorts availability.

I feel like all of the fun wedding planning can begin now that I have that huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. Whew!

Today I'm sending out emails to family & friends to give them a heads up that we're planning a destination wedding and when & where it will be. They aren't the official save-the-dates though, I'll begin working on the them this week to get them sent out as soon as possible. I also have to finish working on our wedding website where our wedding & travel information will be shared with our guest. The link will be includes on the save-the-dates that I mail out. And my other goal this week is to ask my girls if they would like to be apart of my bridal party, which I will share after they all receive them.

Planning a wedding has left me so indecisive in just about everything. Hopefully I don't stress myself out with the Save The Date's, but we'll see. There's just so many designs to choose from and I really want something that truly reflect who WE are and not just something trendy! I just know that I do not want them to be a boarding pass since we're having a destination wedding and I don't want our photo on it, because we haven't taken engagement photos yet. Other than that I'm lost, so wish me luck!

Dallas Bridal Show

Last Sunday my friend Allison joined me at the Dallas Bridal Show held at Market Hall and we had so a good time! I'd never been to a bridal show before and since we are having a destination wedding basically I just wanted to the experience!

There were a variety of vendors from florist, catering companies, bridal shows, photographers and virtually every aspect of the wedding industry. Since we don't really need the assistance of local vendors, I was mostly interested in entering contest & giveaways. Cause let's be honest, who doesn't love free stuff!?! We got food samples, had our photo taken in a photobooth, a couple of bridal/wedding magazines and I even a free wedding planner! All in all, I enjoyed myself.

I will say that I was kinda surprised at how some of the vendors weren't very friendly. I don't expect everyone to be over the top bubbly but when you don't even acknowledge someone when they stop at your booth or say hello in passing is kind rude when they're looking to get business. But, whatever!

One highlight of the day was as a company who printed labels of your contact info for $4 per sheet. That way you didn't have to spend the time writing it down for every vendor that you were interested in.

I didn't get many photos becuase no cameras were allowed, but manged to snap this photo!

And here's a photos of the some of the goodies I came home with!

Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend it to any future bride who has never been to a bridal show before! If you do chose to go don't be afraid to ask questions and putting your name on mailing list, you'll get emails for promotional sales & deals from the vendors.
